SONAR

As the album’s emotional core, the track positions sonar (sound navigation and ranging) as a metaphor for finding human connection amidst the depths of loneliness. “SONAR” features a delicate veil of shimmering synthesizers that serve as the backdrop to a simple arrangement of just Ichiko’s voice and a keyboard, highlighting the song’s poignant lyrics and elegant melody.

The video, directed by Kodai Kobayashi, is the most ambitious and cinematic video Ichiko has made to date, and was shot over 2 full days in various locations in and around Tokyo. Incorporating intricate CGI and elaborate stunts, it really has been a labour of love that pushed the cast and production team to their physical and creative limits. We are sure the many late nights have been worthwhile, so we do hope you enjoy it!
